This is the personal website of Lesley O'Shea - Australian Artist.
This website is updated periodically as Lesley creates new artwork, and has information of her teaching and workshop classes throughout the year.
About
Lesley is both a practicing Speech Pathologist and Artist.
The former profession has involved 30 years of her life, helping both children and adults communicate. Holding a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), she is currently working in private practice part time and devotes the remainder of her time to developing her skills in drawing and painting; a passion she has nurtured all her life.
Lesley has been drawing for as long as she can remember, but has only as an adult has she been able to indulged her dream of going to “art school”. She attended National Art School from 2000 to 2002 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in painting. Following her studies at the National Art School Lesley continued to study painting with Joe Penn. Reflecting her people focused profession, she is particularly interested in portraiture; however she paints and draws a variety of subjects.
Lesley is a Fellow at the Royal Art Society and has exhibited in many group exhibitions.
She has been a finalist in the Shirley Hannon and Portia Geach Portrait Prizes as well as winning the Open Prize, the people’s choice award and the prize for drawing in the North Sydney Art Prize.
She has also won the Robert Le Gay Brereton Drawing Prize, awarded through the Art Gallery of NSW.
Lesley is a tutor at Bathurst Mitchell College School of Arts, Grafton Artfest and the Royal Art Society of N.S.W.
Lesley is available for commissions, commissioned portraits and workshops.
